DILG News: Municipalities in Sarangani and Cotabato undergo Monitoring/Evaluation and Water Source Validation under The 2012 and 2013 SALINTUBIG Program

A series of monitoring/evaluation and water source validation of the on-going and proposed water supply system projects under the 2012 and 2013 SALINTUBIG Program was conducted in some municipalities in Sarangani and Cotabato by a SALINTUBIG Team composed of two (2) DILG Office of Project Development Services (OPDS) staff and two (2) DILG Regional SALINTUBIG focal persons.

As part of the implementation process, The SALINTUBIG Team visited the municipalities Glan, Malapatan, Alabel and Banisilan from March 20 to 22, 2013, Cotabato City and Pres. Roxas Municiplaity from March 25 to 27, 2013, municipalities Malungon, Maitum, Kiamba and Maasim from April 1 to 4, 2013 and municipalities Midsayap, Pigcawayan, Malungon and Malapatan from April 15 to 18, 2013.

For SALINTUBIG CY 2012, there are nine (9) recipient LGUs composed of five (5) Waterless Municipalities with Php 7 Million allocation each, three (3) Waterless Barangays with Php 3 Million allocation each and one (1) Rural Health Unit (RHU) Lying In Clinic with Php 1 Million allocation. Eight (8) recipient LGUs are currently on their respective construction stage while five (5) LGUs have just recently received 100% of their respective fund allocations.

A total of twenty-four (24) LGUs qualified as CY 2013 SALINTUBIG allocation recipients. Ten (10) of which are already validated and thus, 50% of their respective fund allocation is set for release upon submission of required documents.

Sagana at Ligtas na Tubig Sa Lahat (SALINTUBIG) aims to contribute to the attainment of the goal of providing potable water to the entire country and the targets defined in the Philippine Development Plan for 2011-2016, Millennium Development Goals (MDG), the Philippine Water Supply Sector Roadmap and the Philippine Sustainable Sanitation Roadmap. It is designed to provide water supply systems for waterless municipalities and intends to enhance/improve the local capacities of the LGU water service providers in planning, implementation, operation and management of water supply facilities in a sustainable manner.
